Head to The Bedford Hotel in the heart of Tavistock for fine food and drink served all day long, at very appetising prices, and in a gloriously historic setting.
Start the day with a full Devon breakfast in very civilised surroundings. Help yourself to a tempting buffet of breakfast treats, then enjoy your choice of cooked breakfast prepared to order. Toast made with home-made bread, and endless tea and coffee, are included in the price.
Morning coffee with the papers (and some home-made cookies perhaps?) is a relaxed way to while away an hour two in comfort.
At lunchtimes, you’ll find a full choice of light and hearty dishes, served in the relaxed restaurant and the bar – from a warming bowl of soup to a full three course lunch.
Afternoon tea at The Bedford is an institution (not surprising, as The Bedford Hotel is where the Devon Cream Tea was invented!). Dainty finger sandwiches, tempting cakes and warm scones – best enjoyed on a squashy sofa in the Russell Lounge.
In the evenings you can choose from the full menu, served in the bar and the restaurant. Choose something traditional like top-quality fish & chips or a hearty pie, or indulge in some of the beautifully presented specials of the season.
Every menu at The Bedford has the finest seasonal ingredients from Devon’s farmers, fishermen and producers at its heart, and the fine craft ales on the bar are from the hotel’s own Dartmoor Brewery.
