Spray It Out: Banksy & Beyond A talk by Niki Natarajan
Time & Location
About the Event
Join us on 7 October for a live online talk presented by Street Art photographer Niki Natarajan, presented by Tavistock Heritage Trust and Tavistock Guildhall.
Painting walls has come full circle; from the advertisements of the 1890s to 1960s via the vandalism of taggers marking their territories, to muralists and ‘street artists’ getting paid for hand-painted advertising on walls.
So what is the difference between graffiti, writing, tagging and street art; and what’s the point of it all? In this talk, Niki Natarajan, a street art photographer, will look at the different types of street art; the characters and motives behind some stunning works of art; and how from politics, to social inequality and the environment, urban walls are the place to ‘see’ the voice of the people.
