Tavistock Area Support Services
The Lions Club of Tavistock was formed in 1976 and currently has 43 members, both men and women, ranging in age from 25 to over 80! The motto of every Lions Club in the world is “We Serve” and our Club is proud to do just that in the local community by organising fund raising events such as Carnival, the Fireworks Display and the Trees of Light which decorate the front of the Town Hall every Christmas with all the money raised being distributed to local good causes and charities. The Club collects used spectacles through Boots Opticians and the Library for distribution to third world countries and also helps out other local organisations by providing manpower for stewarding, car parking duties and also traffic management for events such as the annual Remembrance Day parade.
