What's On In Tavistock
All year-round Tavistock has a plethora of diverse events for locals and visitors to enjoy, making it an incredibly exciting town to visit. Festivals, markets, exhibitions; there’s always something going on for people of all ages.
Known as a market town, you can of course expect regular themed markets. Aside from the Pannier Market which is open 5 days a week (including Mondays in the summer months), Tavistock also boasts a fantastic farmers market on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month on Bedford Square outside the Town Hall. Tavistock Arts Market is held on the 1st Saturday of each month in Butchers Hall and features a diverse group of local artists and craftspeople with a range of handmade art and handcrafted items. From fresh fruit and veg, to handmade pottery and even vintage bric-a-brac, you can find it all at our eclectic markets!

Big annual events are also held in Tavistock. We regularly take part in Totally Locally shopping promotions which aim to highlight the importance of shopping locally. There are trails for the children at Easter, in the summer and for Halloween. In June we host a Cream Tea Week as Tavistock is said to be where this delightful British delicacy originated. The annual Pride festival takes place in July which is a fantastic fanfare of colour and love, followed by the town Carnival. Food festivals take place throughout the summer, whilst in October we hold our famous Goose Fair! In the lead up to Christmas we celebrate the festivities during our Dickensian Evening where the town time travels to the Victorian era and there’s plenty of traditional fun to be had.
Alongside from these fantastic events, we also have regular line music and performances at the Tavistock Wharf, heritage walking tours held by Tavistock Guildhall and several sustainability events throughout the year.
