About the Event
Very few towns in Devon can have had quite as many religious establishments as Tavistock. With workers flocking to the town as mineral mining and industry flourished in the 19th century, many new Meeting Houses and Chapels were built alongside the 700-year-old Parish Church of St Eustachius, with its famous William Morris stained glass window. This 90 minute, predominantly flat walk over approximately 1 mile, visits the sites of existing and previous religious buildings, spanning over 1,000 years from the building of Tavistock Abbey in 974 to the present day.
For all walks suitable footwear and outer clothing should be worn. The cost is £5 per adult, payable at the Visitor Information Centre or online.
