RAINY DAYS IN TAVISTOCK

Chances are you may encounter some rain - or mizzle - while here on the western edge of Dartmoor. Don't let this spoil your fun though as there are plenty of ways to enjoy the town and immediate area come rain or shine so there is no need to hide indoors.

Take the opportunity to spend some time enjoying our rich history with a visit to the town's Heritage Quarter. Choose from a visit to the Guildhall Gateway Centre, Tavistock Museum, Subscription Library or newly opened Museum of Policing in Devon & Cornwall. All provide a fascinating journey through the town's past.

Tavistock's covered vibrant market culture will provide respite from the rain and is a draw for those who enjoy the bustle of stalls selling everything from fresh produce to artisan crafts. The Pannier Market, a historic venue dating back to the 1100s, remains a focal point for local commerce and community gatherings.

If you have come prepared with waterproofs and wellies, there is nothing quite like having a stomp out on Dartmoor in the wine and rain. Tavistock's natural surroundings provide a stunning backdrop for outdoor enthusiasts with countless opportunities for hiking, cycling, and exploring the great outdoors. A walk down Tavistock Canal is a more sheltered option for those who don't fancy getting blown away!

The town also boasts The Wharf, an arts centre where you can catch the latest films or live music and Meadowlands, a leisure centre where you can enjoy a swim out of the rain.
