This area of open common land is situated on the edge of town and unusually for Dartmoor, is relatively flat.  This easy walk follows the perimeter of Tavistock’s golf course and offers splendid 360 degree views over the town, across to Cornwall, Dartmoor and down towards Plymouth Sound. You will see two medieval crosses during the walk, thought to have marked the route between the abbeys of Tavistock and of Buckfast, on the other side of the moor. The walk takes about an hour and a quarter and is about two and a quarter miles in length.
