A highlight of the season, the Visit Tavistock Easter Trail is a must for families and anyone who loves a bit of adventure. Pick up your clue sheet from the Visitor Information Centre or download it at home and follow the trail through the town, finding Peter Rabbit & friends and discovering facts about Tavistock along the way.


Running throughout the Easter holidays (excluding Sundays), the trail is free to take part in and offers a fun, interactive way to explore Tavistock’s charming streets—plus, everyone receives a chocolatey treat, sponsored by Flapjackery.



Dates: 4th – 18th April (not Bank Holidays or Sundays).

Location: Tavistock Town Centre – collect trail sheets from the Guildhall Visitor Information Centre; Roots & Vines on West Street or Flapjackery. Estimated duration is 2 hours.

If you’re looking for creative activities to keep little ones entertained, Tavistock Library is a good place to start with their fantastic line-up of Easter events.

From craft sessions and workshops to interactive games, there’s always something happening across the holiday—many of them free and drop-in. It’s the perfect rainy-day option or a relaxed break between exploring the town.


🏛 Discover History at Tavistock Guildhall

A visit to Tavistock Guildhall is a fantastic way to bring history to life for the whole family. This beautifully restored building sits at the heart of Tavistock’s UNESCO World Heritage Site and offers an engaging glimpse into the town’s past as a centre of law and order. Inside, interactive displays, original courtrooms and fascinating stories help children and adults alike imagine what life was like in years gone by. It’s an ideal all-weather activity, combining education with exploration and a great way to add a sense of discovery to your Easter visit.

🛍 Explore Tavistock’s Markets

No visit to Tavistock is complete without experiencing its vibrant market scene. Over Easter, the town comes alive with special events including the Spring Fair in Butchers’ Hall (9th-11th April) and the popular Arts Market on the first Saturday of the month, where you’ll find unique handmade gifts, local art and artisan produce.


Alongside these seasonal highlights, Tavistock’s historic Friday Charter Market continues its long tradition, filling the town with stalls offering everything from fresh food and local delicacies to crafts and clothing. It’s the perfect place to soak up the atmosphere and pick up something special.

🐰 Dartmoor Easter Egg-venture

Leave the Easter chocolate behind, dust off the winter cobwebs and pick up a trail sheet and a map from the visitor centre to take part in this family friendly adventure around the local area. Find the best view of the moor, listen to the sounds of spring and get creative and design your own minibeast. Watch out for real eggs! Some of our moorland birds might be nesting on the ground. Don’t forget to record any interesting wildlife on the i-Naturalist app!

Making use of our award-winning Miles Without Stiles routes, you simply follow an easy access trail and enjoy some fun challenges along the way. Just ask staff in our National Park Visitor Centres for a map and off you go!
