BURRATOR RESERVOIR

Burrator Reservoir is situated within the Dartmoor National Park, and encompasses dramatic tors, open moorland, historic settlements and a Nature Reserve - offering a unique day out for families, nature enthusiasts, historians and Dartmoor lovers alike.

A trip here can be combined with a walk across the moors, or enjoyed as a trip of its own with plenty to do – from walking and taking in the views, to fishing for rainbow and brown trout (just be sure to get a permit, available online or by calling South West Lakes).

Kids will enjoy the Burrator Discovery Centre and the Arboretum. There is history and wildlife to explore, discover the ruins of abandoned farms and the remains of the Princetown Railway. Spot cists, cairns and prehistoric settlements.

Devon has relatively few lakes, but the situation and quality of these make them a hidden gem in Devon’s crown.
